Paterson widens presence in Samara region

Regional Profile Togliatti is the second large city of Samara region with the population of 740 thousand people. The city is one of two largest Russian automotive industry centres. The city’s retail turnover in 2003 totaled to RUR 63.5 bln ($2.1 bln) that is RUR 7.5 bln higher than that of Samara.

Competitive profile The largest Russian supermarket chain Perekriostok operating the single store in Togliatti appears to be the main competitor for Paterson in the city. Ramstore has also announced its plans to enter the market in 2005.

Paterson supermarket retail chain has announced the opening of its third store in Samara region. The New outlet is located in Togliatti and was opened on December 11 2004. 11 POS terminals are installed at the store with the sales area of 1,350 square meters. The choice amounts to 12,000 fast moving consumer goods. The shop has semi-product and hot dish production section as well as the self owned bakery.

First Paterson in Togliatti was opened in August 2004.
