Former Somerfield manager to rule retail operations in Paterson
Somerfield is one of the largest British retail chains. According to Hoovers, it operated 630 Somerfield supermarkets and 630 stores under Kwik Save brand. Somerfield yearly sales total USD9 billion.
Richard Collins, the former retail manager at British Somerfield, to rule retail operations in Paterson, Vedomosty reports. According to the newspaper, he has been working at this position since early September this year.
As the head of Paterson Board Aleksey Mauerhauz has said, the company was in search of the new head of retail operations for almost half a year. At first the company thought about the candidate from somewhere in Eastern Europe, but in the end the sympathies were given to the Englishman with the vast experience in retail industry. Except for Somefield Richard Collins used to work in such British chains as Bells and Jackson Stores. Paterson managers hope Richard Collins will bring European professionalism to the Russian retail realities.
Richard Collins is not the first European professional to work for the Russian retail chains. For example, Mosmart Director General Eric Blondeau used to manage the Moscow office of Carrefour before the crisis of 1998. Several Mosmart outlets are also managed by the foreigners mainly from the Polish offices of Carrefour, Geant and Hit. Pavel Musial, now Operational Director of Perekriostok, used to occupy the same oposition in the Tesco European division. Russian furniture retailer Shatura invited the former manager of Marks&Spenser for the position of Development Director. Foreign managers are also present in Eldorado and M-Video electronics retail chains as well as in Modny Bazar.
