Alpi reported to be bankrupt

Alpi, the leading hypermarket operator in Russia, is reportedly going bankrupt. Sberbank has repossessed 250,000 square metres of Alpi’s commercial real estate for the second time. The properties are estimated to be valued at USD450 million. In August this year, Sberbank repossessed five premises in the value of USD44 million. X5 Retail Group and French Auchan have been reported to be negotiating a possible acquisition.
