Sedmoy Kontinent considers regional expansion

One of the leading Russian supermarket chains Sedmoy Kontinent plans to expand to the regional markets, Kontinent Sibir newspaper has learned. In near future Sedmoy Kontinent might enter the main Russian cities, where it is going to work in the format of hypermarkets. Among the possible future locations of the chain Krasnoyarsk and Novosibirsk are mentioned. It should be noted that the chain plans to operate its own regional stores, not franchising ones as another Russian retailer Pyaterochka does.

Sedmoy Kontinent’s regional plans do not mean that the chain is going to stop its growth in the Russian capital. Moscow remains strategically important for us, the company’s spokesman Anna Zaitseva reported. This year the chain will open 20 more stores here.
