Edeka re-evaluates supplier purchasing terms and conditions

Following the acquisition of Plus from Tengelmann, Edeka, the leading grocer in Germany, is reportedly re-evaluating its purchasing terms and conditions with its suppliers. According to Lebensmittel Zeitung, many medium-sized suppliers had given significantly more favourable conditions to discounter Plus than they have done to Edeka. While Edeka often has payment targets of 30 days, Plus in several cases had to pay within 40 or even 60 days only, it is reported.
