Carrefour faces fine for food safety breaches

French retailer Carrefour is facing an EUR220,000 fine (USD286,484) for a series of breaches in six of its stores in the Ile-de-France region, the local press reported. Authorities have revealed more than 2,500 violations including selling products past expiry dates or deep frozen products at room temperature. The group said that customer health and safety have not been jeopardised.
