Metro Group reports improvements in RFID deployment

Metro Group in Germany continues its deployment of RFID technology in logistics. With new UHF-based RFID inlays from technology provider Avery Dennison, the retailer is reporting an increase of the read accuracy saying it is now at “a reliable record level of consistently well over 99% during our deployment”. Nevertheless, the deployment of Avery Dennison’s AD-843 is so far limited to pallet level. With the new inlays, also mixed and difficult pallet contents were readable. Because of problems with items containing liquids and metal packaging the deployment of the new tags has not yet started at case level.
