Edeka top manager accused of spying on staff

Peter Simmel, Chairman of the Edeka Supervisory Board and owner of 32 Edeka grocery stores in southeast Germany, has been accused of spying on employees. According to Focus magazine, private investigators were ordered to police sick staff at their homes and to search private cars after the employees' shifts. Simmel refused the accusations saying that there had been only one single incidence in which a car was searched.
