French retailer Auchan plans to invest some RUB1 billion (USD31.89 million) next year to open five price-orientated compact hypermarkets under the Radouga banner, Auchan's Russian office has said in a statement.
The stores will reportedly have a sales area of 5,000 square metres (53,820 square feet) and will feature 11,000 SKUs. According to board member, Ludovique Olinier, opening one such hypermarket costs RUB200 million (USD6.38 million).
After 2013, Auchan intends to open five to 10 Radouga stores per year. So far, the company has not said in which cities these could be located.
