YUM! BRANDS to cut and shift hundreds of jobs in restructuring

US-based Yum! Brands is cutting several hundred white-collar jobs within its fast-food brands, including an unspecified number in Louisville. Yum! did not release the exact number of redundancies, but the number of employees at its headquarters is likely to fall from 1300-1400 to 1100. According to Yum!, the current economic downturn was not a driving factor in the job cuts. Rather, the restructuring is tied to an ongoing goal of the corporation to own fewer restaurants, selling company-owned outlets to franchisees. In addition, the company is shifting about 200 corporate employees.
