X5 testing waters in Caucasus

Russian retailer X5 has opened its first Pyaterochka stores in the Dagestan region (Caucasus), entering a franchise contract with local company Safinat. The retailer plans to open five stores this year and possibly continue expanding if the network turned out to be profitable. The product range is considerably wider in comparison to stores located in Central Russia and includes up to 10,000 items.
