Wal-Mart opening Smart Choice stores in China
Planet Retail can reveal that Wal-Mart China has been quietly opening a new discount grocery format in China. The new concept trades as Smart Choice and has so far seen three stores open in Shenzhen, the same city that hosts Wal-Mart China’s head office. The Smart Choice stores mirror recent Wal-Mart format developments in markets such as Argentina, Puerto Rico and Mexico and are thought to be discount-style small-format stores.
