Woolworths' administrators fire 700 EUK staff

The administrators of UK variety store chain Woolworths has said that 700 employees at the retailer's wholesale distribution business, Entertainment UK, have been sacked after failing to find a buyer for the division. The job cuts are at EUK's head office and distribution centres in Middlesex, according to administrator Deloitte Touche. "EUK will continue to operate with a reduced workforce of 375 employees, while the administrators continue to realise value from the assets of the business," Deloitte said in a statement.
