Tesco to open over 130 stores in Central Europe

UK retailer Tesco plans to open over 130 new stores this year in Central Europe. Czech newspaper Hospodarske Noviny reported that 30 of these new stores will be in the Czech Republic. The new Czech locations will be small to mid-sized shops with a floor area of 3,000 square meters in small to medium-sized towns. The newspaper reported that the company is also seeking to increase Czech sales of non-food items in the region to half of sales, where it currently accounts for two-thirds of sales.
