Circuit City liquidation sale ahead of schedule

In the US, the liquidators of consumer electronics retailer Circuit City have said that they are ahead of schedule in shedding the retailer's USD1.7 billion of inventory, and expect to complete the job in three to four weeks. In a statement, the liquidators said more than USD1 billion of inventory has been sold since going-out-of-business sales began on 17 January and they are closing some of the chain's 567 stores faster than expected. The liquidators also said that the stores still open contain all remaining merchandise as the company's nine distribution centres have been emptied.
