UK based Marks & Spencer has revealed it has cut the number of carrier bags it distributes from 464 million to 77 million a year since introducing a GBP0.05 (USD0.07) charge for carrier bags. The initiative has made GBP1.2 million (USD1.70 million) in profits, all of which has gone to charity Groundwork.
