Carrefour announces "the biggest price decline" of Spanish history

Carrefour yesterday announced that it will decrease by 25% the price of some 10,000 products sold in its hypermarkets in Spain, according to reports in the French press. Claiming to be "the least expensive of the country", the retailer ensures that this decision is permanent and will cover both its own-branded products and major brands. With the crisis in Spain, all retailers compete on prices. Mercadona claims to have reduced the cost of purchases of its customers by 10%, Lidl has decreased some prices from 16 to 34% by passing lower raw material and Eroski celebrates forty years by offering discounts of 40% on hundreds of products.
