Migros appoints new CEO for Denner

Swiss co-operative retailer Migros has this morning appointed Peter Bamert as CEO of its discount chain Denner effective January 2010, succeeding Philippe Gaydoul, co-owner and grandson of the Denner founder Karl Schweri. Bamert has been with Migros for 11 years as head of the book store chain Ex Libris. Gaydoul will remain in his post as Deputy of Denner's Board of Administration. Discount chain Denner, which became part of Migros in 2007, is currently preparing itself for the immediate market entry of Schwarz Group's discounter Lidl, which is expected for March this year.
